    razer diamondback mouse

i have a problem with my razer diamondback mouse.... i just bought it and it doesnt work in bf2. after installing the drivers to make it 1600 dpi instead of 400 (without drivers its only 400) as soon as i start bf2 the mouse and the game freezes. a couple other times i got as far as almost getting a whole map loaded into a server before it froze before being able to join in the game. has anybody else had this problem? i would really like to be able to use this mouse in 1600 dpi mode. it works fine in counterstrike but bf2 is crashing for some reason. help!

Please do a forum search, this topic has been covered several hundred (not exagerating either) times.

You need to reset your controls to their defaults in the Controls Settings menu and rebind and special assignments to keys you may have now.

I've actually done this and have explored the problem further but haven't found any definite fix. BTW there are no posts in this forum about fixes for this problem. I found about 5 topics covering similar problems but none had any fixes. Anyway, now the problems i'm getting aren't even consistent. Sometimes I boot into bf2 and no mouse cursor appears and i can't get out of the game, sometimes the mouse cursor appears but while its loading a map the loading takes forever and then when it gets in the game the cursor from the menu is imprinted on the screen but the game runs fine. So frustrating i dont know what to do...

found your suggestion of reinstalling graphic drivers but this isn't a graphic driver problem i have the latest graphic drivers for my 6800gt..

and this is why razer is second rate compared to logitech, no matter how much marketing hype there is around them.

RMA/return it and get a logitech Mx518 instead. you can switch on the fly between 400, 800 and 1600 dpi without having to install any software, and it has extra mappable buttons. not to mention, IMO, the quality is superior to razer mice - and i have owned both mice in question.

Go logitech. The 518 is a far superior mouse. Great drivers, great dpi settings. Overall exelent mice.

I agree, I was going to get the G5 but it looks really ugly. I don't understand why they went with the "weathered mouse" look. It looks used! The G7 looks cheap. The Razor looks slim and nice but I'll probably go with a logitech if people are having problems. I've got enough BF2 issues!

For me, build quality, performance, comfort and software quality come way way above aesthetics when it comes to mice.

It is, i have a blue one, well i have 2 (dont ask), goes well with me black coolmaster case with blue lights. Wouldnt buy another one though as they are overpriced. Nice shape but takes ages getting used to the tiny side buttons but once your used to it it does become very comfortable.

update: i got everything working... it wasnt the mouse afterall, it appears that my hard drive got some bad sectors on it somehow. installed on a different drive and everything works great now... and i love the mouse .. it takes some getting used to because im used to bigger mice that you hold with your palm, but once you figure out how to hold this mouse (more with fingers) it can be very deadly. dpi is great and on the fly sensitivity adjustment is awesome for sniping or when you're in a jet and wanna turn faster or something... cool shiat ;D!

I happened to like the G5 look, so thats what i bought. True though about the G7, it looks like a plastic toy. And for the Razer. Ohhboy. Good thing i felt it before i was going to buy it. It is the most cheaply put together peice of computer hardware ive ever felt. ( bit of exageration). Also i dislike how it is suitable for lefties. Sry if you are one, but the other 95% of us right hand gamers want something comfortable, such as the Logitech G series. (RIGHT POWER!!!)
