    Going from 2.0 to 3.0GHz

Yea its about time Im getting this 2.0GHz P4 replaced with a 3.0 in a week. How much of a difference will it make to BF2 cuz I have to play my games in medium settings and I have a 6600GT and 1gig setup

you will still probably be playing on medium, bf2 relies more on your ram and video card

I had a 2400+ AMD with the same graphics card (X800PRO) and same memory (corsair 1024MB) and fixed my regular box which has a AMD64FX 3500+. It went from really slow confirming of client data and many settings on low to all settings to high except lighting and shadows and very fast connfirming of client data. Shadows can be set to medium without lagging.

I also don't experience any slowdowns when there is lots of action.

Also 1024x768 no AA no texture filtering.

Yup, BF2 is pretty Graphics card demanding but going from 2.0 GHZ to 3.0GHz is a pretty big leap and I would say you will notice a big improvement not just in BF2 but in other games too.

Overall.... I would think a BIG leap.
          I went from a 2.0 to a 3.4 (Although before BF2)

Cant tell what settings you will get until you try it. Too many systems that should crush the game are bogged by it, while slower ones run it great!

I went from an AMD 2500+ (2.0Ghz) to a P4 3.0Ghz and the difference is amazing, I have the same hardware from my old system but I can put many more settings up to medium and high.

If the 3.0 ghz is a P4, your screwed. Be smart and get an Athlon. THEN you will see a drastic difference.
Personally, I have a 6600 vanilla, AMD64 3000+, 1 gig of ram and I can play on high. I know,, looking at my system specs, i shouldnt be able to but waht can i say. My computer is like magic.

I have the exact same specs with a 6600 GT and run it fine at medium with 4x aa and I up the geometry or whatever from 80 to 100% @ 1280x1024. I think the manufacturer shipped you a better card. Either that, or your full of it.

I went from a 1.4 P4, the firts one that came out with the P4 architecture to a Pentium 640, and evertything is just alot faster and smoother. You will see a difference but dont spect nigh and day.

Don't waste $, go buy DDR, CL 2 or 1.5....out

                            EDIT: CL= Case latency...
