could i play high grahpics on...

heya,

i got a 2.ghz p4 intel, 1gig ram, 478 slot motherboard with only agp slots and my graphics card is a radeon 9550 256mb version. to play on medium smothly or on high what should i do? update the cpu to 3.2ghz new mobo with pci-e or maybe a new vga graphics card like a 6800 maybe?

Hmm.. Well I would do all that right now, and get an AMD compatable motherboard with PCIe. Because if you want to upgrade your video card, you'll want PCIe, cuz thats what i'm doing :)

Use that until you get the new set up (At your convenience).
Unfortunately cant really answer your original question as posted examples on these forums lead a person to think that you could have 2 identical computers... Yet one will run high... the other will not. I've seen threads with people having much better computers running theirs in medium/low while mine runs high with no issues. and have seen people claim slower setups running better that that.
Unfortunately it seems to run on high only if it likes you.)

There is no way you could play at all high with a set up like that. Its close to mine and i have half of my settings on med the rest on low. I have tried high and its like 5-10 fps.. (with the OC).

I would get an AMD capable mobo (with pci-e) and a new vid card, the 6800 GT/GS is a good card and would let you play all or most on high.

You need MORE than 1 gb RAM

Okay,
you would need ATLEAST the following:
3000+ AMD64 / 3ghz Intel processor. 2ghz p4 is way too low!
1,5gigs of 400mhz
6800GT / 850 xt

not always

alot of it depends on the resolution you might be able to run 800x600 high with a 6600/gt but if you crank up the resolutions it just wont handle it

for example to run at 1600x1200 your going to need a 7800gtx and above if you dont want the framerate to sometimes drop low
