Let me get this straight if u have 4 Ram modules there is no way to run in dual channel? Surely u could run 2 modules together and the other 2 together in dual channel?

I run in all 4 of my RAM slots and I get Dual channel.

To get dual channel with only 2 MODULES (Or.. 2 Ram Sticks) you need to place them into a socket that is color coded.

My ASUS P4800-E Deluxe Motherboard has RAM sockets that are color coded. I did run 2 RAM Modules in a socket of ONE color to get Dual Channel.

Some motherboards may not have color coding on the RAM Sockets but I have yet to meet one.

The other thing to think of is this:

2 RAM Modules + any one module or a pair of modules with a different capacity in the SAME motherboard MAY disable dual channel.

      Hope this helps.

His motherboard has 4 memory slots, 2x512MB + 2x1GB = 4 memory sticks. He isnt losing dual channel support.
