How much would a new Graphics card help

    I just bought a this:

    AMD Athlon64 3700+ S939
    ASRock 939A8X-M
    KME 5762 Black 400w Case
    2Gb Corsair DDR400
    250Gb IDE @ 7200 RPM

    But I have a GeForce 6200 with 256Mb.

I can't visualise in my head, from my experience, how upgrading my card to say a 7800 would make the game look swisher. I mean will the textures on high be different to the textures on high with my current card. Will it run faster/smoother? Is it worth hundreds and hundred of dollars? Probably not for me, but what would be the noticable improvement from taking this road.

It will look the same on high as the one you have but it will run a million times smoother.

Not only would a 7800gt allow you to raise the ingame res above 800x600, you could actually play with everything on high and get more fps with it. The rest of that comp is really good, but pairing it with a 6200 is just dumb.

eek bad times. Why would you buy a whole new system but get an AGP motherboard?
To answer your question, a 7800gs (don't get a 7800gt as that is PCIe) should run BF2 max settings and at 1280x1024 very smoothly

ouch, i would return that if you *just* got it. AGP is dead and buried, get a PCIe motherboard, hell they have NF4 motherboards with a 6200 graphics card onboard and a x16 PCIe slot for future expansion.

You need PCI-Express x16 to use PCI-E video cards. You won't fit a PCI-E video card in the normal PCI and AGP slot, unless you like the sound of the PCB breaking, then it might, but then again it wouldn't function.

If you can return the pc, then get a PCI-e mobo and a 7800GT, they run great, i just got home from using my mates pc, who has one. But if you are not going to return your pc, then get the 780GS, the fastest AGP card, will run BF2 great.

No, its not going to look any better.

High textures are high textures, any way you slice them.

Making the high textures play smoother and not artifact or anything is the breand and butter of a newer/faster card.

What are you talking about? The 6 and 7 series of cards have very similar effects, so as someone said, high detail is high detail. Ands its really annoying when you ramble on how someone is high when you the one thats wrong.
