3dmark06 scores and actual performance

Question for the computer graphics savy types out there.

I recently updated to the Nvidia 81.93 drivers and received about a 300pt lower score (Average) in 3dmark06.

However I noticed an average increase in my FPS on BF2 without any changes to the game settings. (About a 5-10 fps increase overall)

With that I am not going to roll back the drivers.

What are people's opinions on 3dmark vs in-game performance, and has anyone else (With an nvidia card) noticed a similar 3dmark drop with the new drivers yet maintain or improve in game performance?

3dmark is more or less a joke. Real world benchmarks are where its at. If you want to join the competitive benchmarking community, and go for #1 in your class 3dmark is the bread and butter of those competitions, but outside of that, its a useless program IMO.

Not quite, it doesnt take some profound knowledge to realize that running 3dMark has little to no bearing on real games, and is useless unless you participate in competitive benchmarking challenges.

e-peen is all that matters. haha. I remember, on 81.94, my socre was lower, but my CPU score was higher. and on 81.95, my CPU was lower but my overall was higher. its crazy.... it doesnt really matter, the small differences dont matter, just the big ones.

To be honest I do not place much stock in benchmarks like this, If a driver gives me 10 extra fps in BF2 but 2,000 less points in 3D mark then to me that is a good driver.
