    Question about PSU & performance

Ok, i'm not gonan buy a new psu or anything but i've got a question...

How do you know if your card gets enough power ? i mean i dont have noticable performance loss but in 3dmark05, when i first installed the 6.2 driver i got like 6824 a lot and now it's 6780 and sometimes it goes around 6814.... that normal ?

thnx although this question sounds n00b just wondering...

Re: Question about PSU & performance

yeah thats an okay fluctuation. I get that sometimes too, i OCed my CPU to 2.5 and my score dropped in 05 lol. at 2.4 it gets better scores. usually you are fine with the recommended psu wattage. the more things in your computer though, the more juice it needs. I see you have a 350watt, a GPU OCed 30mhz, a CPU @ 2.4 and a hard drive. you might not wanna OC, but it seems fine and your score does to. i dont know how to find if it IS getting enough juice but it seems like it is, maybe someone else knows how to check.

dropped scores by that much (which isnt much) can be from anything from background tasks, to heat.

      thnx for the response mate,

i was just wonderering if my card was being damaged or something because of that weird fluctuation... but from your words i understand that's not the case... i calculated that without the oc i use 300 watts

More often than not an underpowered PSU will result in random crashes, or a failure to boot into windows. If your not experiencing those problems your in the clear.

a more powerful stable PSU in some cases will allow you to overclock more without BSOD's and more..

          I run a 650w on my system,

OK, IM WEAK IM SO WEAK

i bought myself a new psu... the coolermaster real power 550 watt... although toms hardware says it only handles 500 watts it's the only "good" psu that i can get around here in holland and dont have to wait weeks for it to arrive when i buy psu's online... but anyways it has a nice effect in my hp pc with it's blue LED :P :P :P case in combination with my red zalman led :)
