eVGA 7800: Reg., GT, CO, GSCO Superclocked

Well i've been debating on which card type to get but I want to know which one will give me the most bang for my buck. Well thanks Guys

Are you getting a new motherboard? Only the GS and GSCO come in AGP.

best bang for the buck is the GTX, but as said above^ the GS and GSCO are only AGP and the GTX and GT are pciexpress.

um no? the gt is definitely the best bang for buck... $250 and you can oc it to gtx speeds... or at least oc it so that it does as well as a gtx

sorry, I was thinking of overall performance. yes best bang for the buck is the GT, but its 300$ i dont think it has lowered to 250$ even WITH discounts and all that other junk.

7800GT is the best bang for the buck right now, but if you dont have to buy today the 7900's should be out in force by next month. That leaves you with cheaper 7800's (before they are totally phased out) or the possibility of picking up a better card for the same price.

7800GT is the best bang for the buck right now, but if you dont have to buy today the 7900's should be out in force by next month. That leaves you with cheaper 7800's (before they are totally phased out) or the possibility of picking up a better card for the same price.

nope, the 7900's are die shrunk G70 cores with some minor improvements. There is some sort of misconception that video cards get made for years and years etc...

They dont, nvidia has already cut off supplies to retailers and is shipping out the last batches of cores for cards. Its not economical for nvidia to keep producing older chips because they cost nvidia more money to make (larger die space) than newer smaller chips.

The 7600's and 7900's are coming and they will replace the 7800's and 6600's/6800's by summer.

Yeah yeah i know its the inquirer but this is fairly common knowledge in the industry, now dont get me wrong, its not going to be "poof" the 7800's are gone, but there will definately be a finite and shrinking supply moving forward.

dude, just get a GT... than you can use the money that you would spend extra on a gtx to save up for the DX10 cards...overclock your GT and than we're all happy :)

You seemto forget they need to leave someithing gor those that don't wnat the latest and greatest. Not everyone buys the top end, the 7800s are needed for mid-end.

It would be absurd of them to stop making them....You can still buy 6600gts and much older cards...

Well If I wait for DX10 cards won't that run me 200 dollars more for just a DX upgrade and some minor inprovements?

I think the DX upgrade is a pretty big deal... it's not "just a DX upgrade." If you've seen the DX10 crytek video, then you'd know DX10 looks pretty freakin' amzing :)
And DX10 cards shouldn't cost anymore than they do now... highend will still be $500+, mid will be $200-300, and low end will be around $100

7600's are replacing all/most of the older cards, the G70 line is totally being phased out by the G71.


EDIT: The only reason the 6800GT and 6600GT have survived was to maintain a competitive product in the mid range. Notice how for about the last 6+ months the supply of 6800 Ultras has been non existant? The 6800GS and 7800GS are currently phasing out the 6800GT and as soon as the 7600's are out the 6600's will be phased out.
