Nah, you'll be fine with any card that you choose. Though on that list, the 7800 Series is the best.

exactly. but I, and just about everyone on this forum, would suggest building it yourself. It's easy, cheaper, and you can choose PRECISELY what you want.

Thanks for the input. I'd considered building my own machine but decided against it for three main reasons:

1. I spec'd out all the hardware goods that I wanted to install. The total hardware costs amounted to just under $2K (approx. $1700). I then compared Alienware, Velocity, and Dell (all in the my price range) configuration options that are much like my own specs. As it turns out, all the config. option comps were very close to my own specs. and strangely enough -- my estimated cost comparison.

2. I like other folks taking the responsibility for "acts of god" hardware malfunctions. A warrenty is a sweet thing.

3. I don't have a lot of time to goof around with configuring a new machine.

Synopsis: While it may cost me between 2-3 hundred dollars less for a home-built machine, I'm willing to forgo that cost by having the warrenty -- and the options of taking a nap on my hammock rather than tune n' config all the hardware.

I hope you never plan on upgrading or even opening your case.

PS: When the sh*t hits the fan its much easier to fix it yourself than deal with online merchant tech support and warranty people. They make it so you don't even want to deal with them once they have your money.

Build it yourself. If things mess up you wont have to send your computer to the company and wait 4 weeks to get it back. Plus you'll have all the manuals.

Actually, I'm a software developer and deal with hardware/software issues all day long. I've ripped up and built loads of computers in my day. It's just the initial setting up of a new machine that doesn't work for me -- on a purely time-cost benefit analysis.

Nothing is ever New in terms of Graphic Cards. Anyway, any card on that list should work but a lot of people had problems with their 9000 series after 1.2, but they're lower end cards so you prob wont buy one.

building yourself is the best... but what you could do is checking for brand PCs with good parts and than a ****ty graphicscard ( brand pcs always have ****ty cards) and than replace the videocard and ram... it's just an option if you dont wanna go build a whole pc

Nothing is too new in computers i think everyone knows that....u get the latest card and your happy and all and then POOF! 3weeks later a newer one comes along!

as long as the drivers are are the same etc your fine most modern cards are just alot quicker and smother!
