the 6600gt. heres why I belive that.

the 6600 has regular DDR memory, and slower clock speeds, much slower. but it has 256mb DDR memory.

the gt has GDDR3 memory, much faster clock speeds, and half the memory but ddr3.

the ddr3 not only performs better, better for OCing and better overall. the clock speeds on the GT are much better, and from reviews it performs very well, better than the 6600. though it only has half the memory, the 6600 wont be very good in the future anyways for games that require it. the GT may have 128mb but it still performs fairly well in games anyways. also, the 6600 has a fanless heatsink, not good for OCing. go with the gt.

also, nice mobo, a PCIexpress AND a agpx8, I could have used that lol.

6600 card = 128bit memory interface
6600GT = 256bit memory interface

6600gt = twice the bandwidth!

Get the GT.

the detailed spec on the gt is sorta wrong, and even contradicts the title bar. but razor, the 6600gt does not have 256bit memory, both cards are 128bit. look on newegg, or even the title bar for the link he provided it says 128bit. 256bit is only in the 6800 and higher (and not the 6800xt).

but corp, if you can find a 6800xt (even though its 128bit and 128mb) its still a 6800, and if u can find it at the same price as a 6600gt, get it. lol.

I would say 6800XT if u can afford it (like other people said), as it's only a bit more expensive than the 6600GT, otherwise 6600GT.

But on Newegg the 6800XT is cheaper than the 6600GT (well most of em)

6600gt:
500mhz core
1000mhz memory
ddr3 memory
8 pixel pipelines
128bit memory interface

all for 145$.


6800xt:
(keep in mind, on newegg, there were many different types, some had regular DDR memory, others had DDR3, this model had DDR3)
350mhz core clock
1000mhz memory clock
256mb memory
ddr3
8 pixel pipelines
256bit memory interface
139$ PLUS 20$ mail in rebate

now you compare these: the only bad difference, is that the core clock on the 6600gt is higher, trust me this doesnt make much of a difference, and besides, you can OC the 6800. now. not only is the 6800xt cheaper by 5$ (without the rebate) it has a bigger 256bit memory interface, double the memory, and, it has the 6800 chip. think about this, if you compare a 6600gt to a 6800xt, the 6800 is automaically better because of the chip. The chip in each is tottaly different, the 6800chip is newer and can play more games easier. it is the overall smart choice and will last longer.
the 6600gt ^ as pointed out above can play the game on medium settings, but teh 6800xt most likey high, or a bunch of high a few medium.

edit: i chose the evga popular 6600gt and a XFX 6800xt, there is also a ddr eVGA 6800xt, and a ddr3 evga 6800xt, but the ddr3 only has 128mb memory and is about 160$, so I chose the xfx which is better anways and cheaper.
