Should I upgrade to 2 gig?

Hi my games seems to be running ok now at medium low settings I usually get around 40 to 50 fps and dips to 30 in fire fights. I was wondering if I would benefit with another gig so I can put my settings up slightly thanx.

here are my specs

Pentium 4 2.4
1 gig pc2700
160 gig hardrive
audigy se
ati 9700 pro
4 meg conection

considering its 2700 ram get another gig of 3200 and upgrade that card if you have some more cash but otherwise another gig would be a good investment IMO.

Ok so your saying I would benefit better by having 1 gig of pc3200 rather than 2 gig of pc2700?

Stay with the ram you have now and just save up some money for a brand new machine, that ones a little too old to upgrade.

yea I was thinking that but most games play ok and im fairly happy with my battlefield 2 performance just wanted to see if i could notch up a few levels on the detail. Ill probably buy a new cpu soon anyhow thanx for help.

No more ram is needed until you want nearly all high settings trust me i had
1gb and i was able to play on all high other than textures which were at meduim

i would invest in a new graphics card or processor though

which one you get depends on the games you play

bf2 is very light on the cpu and so you wouldnt get much of a hit going to
say a p4 3.0 or amd 3000+

a new graphics card would be best if you play mainly shooters
but if you play stratergy or other cpu intensive games a processor would probably your best option

thank you for the replys I have just ordered another gig cant really afford a new graphics card at the moment and I am not that keen on having the graphics on high just as long as the game runs smooth and is set on reasonable settings im happy :)

Just turn all the fancy effects off(lighting, dynamic light, AA, terrain) and you should notice a big difference in BF2

um.. yeah. I don't think there's really a poitn to having 2 gigs if your not trying to play on high textures... maybe levels will load faster though :)

yea im planning on getting a processor 3.0 because i have a 2.4 celeron d at the moment and to be honest it runs rather sluggish but gets the job done on most games with medium settings just not sure wether to upgrade.
