So at the reccomendation of one of you rocket scientists I upgraded my memory from 4 x 512 DDR 400 CL2 sticks of Kingston Hyper X to 2 x 1024mb Sticks of Corsair XMS DDR400 CL2. Your claim was that fully occupying all 4 banks slows your machine down. WRONG! You got it backwards. I even said this and you assured us you were right.
My 3dmark06 score dropped IN HALF!
I went from a 4231 to 2572. Great job retards. Whoever it was please sound off so I can virtually strangle you.

I'd say that the sticks aren't in the right slots, or maybe something is wrong in the bios. I'd say next time please open a thread with the problem and not this anger that you seem to like unleashing on the board.

- you are actualy the dumbass because you didn't do any research before spending money

then, two sticks with same amount of memory are better then 4 sticks , but the performance gain you get between 4 and 2 stick combinattion is so litle you won't notice it it in games .

Fact that your score is cut inhalf is actualy meaning there is something wrong with the stick you are curently using, or with your setup , maybe for some strange reason the pc is trying to use the empty banks or something who knows , or the ram sticks you got aren't good , who knows .

I'm probably one of the brainiac, not brianiac, that said it's better to go 2X1 instead of 4X512. But since you can't act maturely, I'm not helping either. Good luck.

well 1 Gb sticks usually have a higher latency (usually 3) but 2.5's are cheaper now. Latency is more important for gaming than the command rate. (the lower the better!)

4x 512 is often slightly slower is some benchmarks due to having a command rate of 2T instead of 1T.

I have 4x512Mb of Corsair XMS3200XLL. Its rated at 2-2-2-5 but due to running four and a slight overclock I have it at 2-3-3-6.. Still pretty fast though, except my command rate is at 2T, obviously.

But Ive read plenty of threads to say that a 2T command rate isnt the end of the world for gaming.

There is nothing stated anywhere that anything written on these forums has to be confirmed and guaranteed to be true or work.

I'm sure nobody here would intentionally steer you wrong.

We try our best to spot false information and get the poster to see the error of their ways.

In this case, however, I believe that your attacks are completely unjustified and you need to do a little more work before claiming that somebody else is at fault for your bad hardware upgrade.

I can't believe he even figured spending 200$ just to switch from 4 dimms to 2 dimms was worth the effort/money.

Sorry having a bad day, I fixed the issue. Apparantly my CAS timing reset in the BIOS and was set to CL3. Please accept my humble apologies as I was the Brianiac (my name is actually Jamie, but I will go by Brianiac in all future threads)
I also uninstalled and reinstalled my video drivers (strange) and I am noticing a larger than expected performance gain. It takes a big man to admit he was wrong, and here I am "I was wrong" Accept my humblest apologies please all.

I will sell the 4 sticks and after my rebate will have not spent any extra $$, also this free's up two slots that I will need to fill to run Windows Vista/Looking Glass this fall. Cheers.
