Memory won't show up..

Searched for this.. couldn't find a good result

I just got a 512 stick of ram.. I am adding it to my 1 gig

my 1 gig is ddr400 3200 ram x2 512 ram sticks
I checked all the staticstics and the 512 is exactly the same as those... it just looks a little bigger..

the new memory wont show up in my display.. it only shows 1 gig of ram, I dont notice any difference in bf2... what's going on? Help.. please!

Does your motherboard manual state that you can run 3 sticks? If so, does it specific which slots? Do you have to enable extra RAM slots in your BIOS?

Said nothing about 3 sticks...
I got the exact memory stick that is in my comp... only a different brand.. How do i find out if it is compatible with my motherboard?

Take out your original stick and use the two new ones you bought, if it doesn't boot it could mean those sticks are defective and thats why windows won't detect them.

I have 2 512's (old) and 1 new 512

I did... It showed up as 512..
After that I added one of my old sticks...
Showed up as 1 gig..
So it seems like windows wont accept more than a gig or something?

Also I notcied on startup.. it only used to say dual channel 128 bit
now it says single channel 64 bt.. so I know the pc can identify, I just don't know why I won't work

No windows XP(32bit) will take about 4 gigs, a bit less, something else is wrong, like someone said, maybe you can't run 3 sticks, or have it on the wrong spot?? Bios update??

I have them all lined up... from left to right... only 1 slot is open

Is there anyway I can make is see I have 1.5 gigs in there and not just 1 gig? I tried diff configurations earlier

I put the new one and ONE old one together and took ONE old stick out
It showed up as a gig, then I put one of the old sticks in and then it have the same result, no 1.5 gigs, just 1 gig

what seems like is 1 side of the slots work and the other doesent... the not working side has 2 sticks in it the working side only has 1 stick in it... and only 512 mb shows up in my display... so something is going wrong here..

Man... this sucks, went to the wrong manual... just read the right one..

It states "the Gaknfwhatever doe not support 3 memory modules, if 3 memory modules are insterted, the system will not boot." My comp turned on.. just the 3rd on wont show up.. so this means 1.5 is not an option fo my mobo?

buy another 512, it would be better with 2gigs anyways
