i got a

3000 amd
6600 gt
1 gig ram

and im running it in high, 4x aa, and 2x af.
and got around 60 to 70 FPS, it can drop a bit in heavy fire fights ore when the arty comes raining down.

u should really try one of those modified drivers,
they give me a boost of 20 to 30 FPS

so i don't think u have any trouble playing the game on high

2 gb ram
Geforce 6800GS ultragaming edition

I can run everything on max but i have dianamic lights on med

^ Good good. I have my Dynamic Lighting on high but there is only a slight quality improvement against a 15FPS loss...

Ok, look at my sig, that's my specs. I run all high except lighting, dynamic lighting, and dynamic shadows, which are on medium. I play on 1280x1024, and i have 6xTAA (temporal Anti aliasing), and 16xHQAF (high quality anisotropic filitering). And i get around 30-45fps. ANd NO, i'm NOT LYING. If anybody accuses me of lying, i'll laugh, cause while they whine and say it's impossible, i'll be fragging people on BF2.:)

You all should put "lighting" on low. You will thank me when you get into those dark areas.

I currently have 1 gig of crucial pc3200 2x512 dual channel

Are you saying that if I add another 512 stick of kingston pc3200 I will see a REDUCTION in performance?

is there a pro to this as well as a con which outweighs the pro? or is it simply detrimental(bad)

would I see a decent improvement if I bought another gig of crucial pc3200 2x512 dual channel? (exact same stuff as I have already)

puzzled..I thought more was always better

Adding a single 512 stick to a 2 x 512 setup will cut your theoretical bandwidth in half by taking it out of dual channel. This will reduce performance by around 10% as well as another 5% for running the ram at 2T. You will however decrease map load times. It would be better to get another 2x512 of matching ram which will only give you the 2T performance hit.

The best solution is to get 2 x 1Gb and sell your current sticks.

when you say 10% are you referring to fps at a given level of quality? hopefully in this case high

also could you please fill me in the reference to 2t?
do you simply mean that having to access more cards is bogging down the mem controller? or at least having a negative effect on performance in game

edit: oh one more thing should i get the exact same stuff (two 512 sticks dual channel as opposed to a 1gig stick of the same crucial pc3200 ram?)

I am reffering to your overall system performance when it comes to dual vs. single channel. On a memory intensive game like BF2 single channel may indeed affect your FPS.

As far as running 2T vs. 1T I don't think it will make much difference in the game. The only reason I don't recommend 4 dimms full is because of compatibility issues. Some motherboards do not run 4 dimms full well and can cause errors. You definetly can't overclock if you have all banks full.
