Temp panel/moniter

I recently purchased a multi function panel which also moniter 3 temps in my computer. The temp guage things are little metalprods with yellow plastic over it. I stick one in between my RAM, and one I left hanging, and one I shoved in my CPU heatsink. The thing is, I dont think that is how it is supposed to work, is their supposed to be something to stick it to the surface? because my CPU temp reads at 30C to 32C at load, and I think that is a little low, and I think it is because the temp reader is sort of floating in the heatsink instead of stuck to it. Does anyone know how to make it stick to surfaces? or if it is even supposed to, because im pretty sure Im not supposed to just shove it in there, because they are loose and seem to be able to fall out easily.. Thanks. Sorry if some of this doesnt make sense im writing it at school in a hurry becuase I wont be home later.

I would imagine it should be as close to the die as you can get it.

if its paper thin, you could stick it in between the heatsink and CPU, but enough away from the die to prevent a bad seal.

I dont really know how you would hold it down in all the other places.
