    Headsets & Speakers

Hi...this is my first thread ever so not entirely sure how this works.... I have a query which I can't find an answer to anywhere......

I have 7.1 surround sound speakers and want to get a headset so that I can talk to my team mates, however I dont need great headphones, as I already have great surround sound...

Should I just get a mic?
Should I just get a cheap USB headset?
    I just don't know..

Any recommendations would be most appreciated

get a good headset and forget the speakers there is nothing worse than all the feed back and noise from a desk top mic from someones speakers you just can not hear half of what people are trying to say

      Thanks for the quick reply....

I've noticed that some people even use PS2 headsets and somehow turn the speaker(on the headphones) off and claim this works fine.
I guess feedback is minimised due to the mic being on the headset and USB noise reduction???...Maybe???

You have to understand the only reason I got surround sound was for this game...and the new graphics card...and the joystick and the glow in the dark keyboard...and the kevlar jacket!!!....

just get a surrond sound headset they are not that expensive and one more little tip turn down the ingame sound effects to around 30% that way you will be able to hear voip alot better and not just the engine or bombs/artillery

I don't think you are quite grasping my dilema??...
My speaker system is the mutts nuts.......
I don't Want the ambient sound turned down...It's there for a reason...I love having sound all around me...I can tell EXACTLY where vehicles and sometimes even people are before I even see them.

I want to know how I can comunicate to my team using a mic and not lose my great sound....I don't want a great pair of headphones... I get too clostrophobic

I absolutely love BF2, but I'm just not going to sacrifice great sound to tell my gunner where the prime target is....

then you will play at a disadvantage when the gunner trys to tell you that there is a helo about to shoot you, and as for you speakers being the mutts nuts has it dawned on you that every one you try to talk to does not want to get deafened by all the noise in the background so the chances are will either mute you or just kick you out of the squad
