Can I adjust Frames per second

    Guys,

Any help would be great. I'm averaging 15 FPS when I play. Is there anything that will help me increase.
    Nvidia 5200 128 card (9500 256 didn't help)
    2.4 Intel
    2GB 2700 Ram (2x1024)
    160 GB Harddrive

Other than that i don't know the specs. Ping is 24 on some servers, but FPS is 15 (or lower)

How about you tell us all of the specs of your machine? Then we can really help.

You need to make sure you uninstall and clean all nVidia drivers before installing the ATI card so as not to have conflicts.

Also make sure your sound, motherboard and other drivers are current.

I know this is going to sound stupid, but is there a way to see what my motherboard is without opening this thing up. I'm not the most technical guy in the world.

I did clear out all NVIDIA stuff before putting in the ATI (even overclocked), then I cleared out all the ATI when I sent it back. Also thinking about a new computer.

Have heard differing ideas on Athlon v Intel --does a dual core really help gaming? Why 4x512 v 2x1024? Also, when piecing them together -not sure what effect different shipsets etc will have. Everything I do is simple stuff, Excel, Word except BF2.

It can tell you everything about your computer
ATM, there aren't any games that use dual cores real well, but I'm betting that there will be by the end of the year.

Oh, and as for getting better fps... you can get a nice nvidia 6600 for $120 after the rebate.

It seems you have an AGP Slot, as you were able to intall a 9500, so I would have to suggest you upgrade you video card. IF you are looking for low-med settings with decent fps, get the 9800. If you are looking to play med-high, upgrade to the 6600 series, perferably the 6600gt...

EDIT: BTW, did you check out this thread yet? http://www.totalbf2.com/forums/showthread.php?t=44287

No I had not, but I'm checking it out now...

              Thanks

Ultimately I need a new computer, but i want it just for BF2. Everything else I do could be done on a PDA

Re: Can I adjust Frames per second

with an nvidia 5200 dnot expect much, I dont know if 15 fps is the right amount for that card, but just dont expect much. Not that this is you: but a lot of people post in the support section thinking they will somehow get max performance from a crappy system, and that we can all just tell them leet ways to get more FPS. Thats not how it works, sometimes your computer just cant handle it, live with it. That was a general statement BTW, now aimed at anyone.
