Hi all, what would you guys suggest for a new video card? Im building a comp in a few months and was wondering what the general thoughts were about which is better, the Nvidia7900 or the ATi X1900?.

Re: X1900 or 7900
as the 7900 isn't out yet, I don't we are able to answer that question yet. Probably best to wait until the major sites (anandtech.com and xbitlabs.com) have reviews out.
Although I am expecting the 7900 to be able to perform better, just because it is coming out later -
Re: X1900 or 7900
We don't know how good the 7900 will be. If it's as good as people think it will be, get it. But right now the best card on the market is the x1900xt.Comment

Correction: x1900xtx
But yeah, the x1900 series are the best cards on the market today.Comment

Re: X1900 or 7900
No, thats not the best card out. It costs 100 bucks more for +25mhz core/50+mhz mem, which is not worth it and is easily attained by a xt. I stand by my post.Originally posted by bloodie73Correction: x1900xtx

He is refering to stock speeds MatDef. In which case he is correct. By overclocking you void any waranty on most cards. Unless you have eVGA which allows that and swapping of the stock cooler and is still covered for life :)Comment

Re: X1900 or 7900
For the most part oc'ing doesn't void the warranty unless you do a voltmod or something, and I really don't think that kind of oc would do any damage whatsoever.Originally posted by Shoot2KillHe is refering to stock speeds MatDef. Are you serious? Voltmodding can completely fry a card, and OC'ing voids 99.99% of cards.Comment

Please reread my post again, I said, "For the most part oc'ing doesn't void the warranty unless you do a voltmod or something". Again, the xtx is not worth the extra price for such a small speed boost.Originally posted by Shoot2KillAre you serious? Re: X1900 or 7900
don't wait for the 7900, get the X1900 its fast enough and it can do AA+HDR and HQAF, you don't want to spend 600 on a GPU and then have UT2K7 comeout and have to choose between AA or HDR.Comment

Re: X1900 or 7900
Hell, when UT2K7 comes out I'm getting a dx10 card.Originally posted by [DC]M4guy624don't wait for the 7900, get the X1900 its fast enough and it can do AA+HDR and HQAF, you don't want to spend 600 on a GPU and then have UT2K7 comeout and have to choose between AA or HDR.Comment

Re: X1900 or 7900
Wrong. The best current video card on the market is the 7800GTX 512mb xxx edition. it is faster, better quality and no errors like the 1900xt serries.
A guy tested 7800GTX 256mb and 1900xt 512mb and he saw that 7800GTX is much better in bf2 and other games pluss the graphics are better and aa is better while the 1900xt had many errors and poor video quality.
Also the benchmarks show that the 7800GTX 512mb is the best.
Wait till u see the 7900!!! its gonnna kick ass.
Here are specs of the xfx 7800GTX 512mb XXX edition
Engine Clock 580 MHz
Memory Clock 1.73 GHz
Chipset GeForce 7800 GTX
Memory 512 MB
Bus Type PCI-E

Highlighted Features HDTV ready , SLI ready
Memory Interface 256-bit
Memory Bandwidth 54.4 GB/sec

Re: X1900 or 7900
LMAO my friend switched to a X1900 from a 7800 cuz the image quality sucked on his Nvidia card, also his FPS went up about about 35-40% in alot of games... anyways raw numbers dont matter anymore considering the fact at 1600x1200 4xAA 16xAF the X1900 gets 103 fps while the 7800 gets 86... so i'd really like to know where you get your info... im guessing out of your ass? Also errors and poor image quality... its funny how EVERY review says ATI has better IQ due to HQAF and HDR+AA and ATI's 6xAdaptive AA is much more playable then NV's 8xSSOriginally posted by AnnihilatorWrong. Re: X1900 or 7900
which 7800 did he have? GT or GTX?? also he might have not had the right forceware drivers.
The only way that is gonna finnish this flame that u just started is to wait for the 7900 to get released and we will see if nvidia is better than ATI.Comment

GTX, and with the 7900 they still won't have HDR+AA... YAY lets buy a 1000 dollar GPU so we can not turn every setting onOriginally posted by Annihilatorwhich 7800 did he have? GT or GTX?? also he might have not had the right forceware drivers.
