The 6600GT 128 might be able to beat that, cause that 512mb makes it slower I think.

EDIT: Found some benchmarks on that card vs a 6600gt

Also im not sure that games can even utilize 512mb of ram yet so you're best off with the 6600GT.

        Pros: None

Cons: Everything. Its too expensive, it can't utilize that much memory. The interface is only 128bit. It uses ddr2, which is slow, and you can get the 6600gt for the exact same price now. In short, thats not a long term update, that card will be too slow long before games ever need that much memory. 6600gt.

        Edit: It's 130? WTF! Might as well get a 6800gs, only 40 bucks more:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814127200

SLI is wasted on anything except the top-end cards(68's, 78's). Why? Because a single 68 would outperform dual 66's for less money. So the answer is a definate NO.

Original posters question: 512mb on a card with a 128bit memory interface is ludicrous. The interface can't handle 256mb let alone 512.
Those cards are meant for video editing where the mb's aren't utilized as quickly as they are in a gaming environment...basically.

There is absolutely no reason to have 512mb on a low-end card.

QuikSilv3r47 6600 series cards have 128bit and 6800 serries have 256bit. 256mb with 128bit is like having 128mb with 128bit so 512mb will do nothing. Best is to get 6800GS or GT or NU.

NEVER buy a card with 128bit memory interface, it's FALSE ECONOMY, they are ALL slow & shiat, ALLWAYS buy cards with a 256bit memory interface period.

Lol, it's like my friend buying a 6200 512 and bragging about it. I keep telling him it's rubbish but he won't believe me..

Yep, that's a good video card. Infact I think it's the best in that price range.
