I'm really pleased with my G5. The texture and feel is great for long sessions. I currently have 18g extra weight in the cartridge. It does make a difference. The mouse with no weight is too light. The extra weight does effect the balance as it effects the momentum the mouse carries when moving. The laser works on any surface without any noticable performance affect. You could happily use this on any surface, walls, metal surfaces, body parts.

The only bad point for me is the mouse wheel or really the middle mouse button. It doesn't really function very well. Because the wheel can go left to right aswell as up and down so pressing exactley down on the button can be tricky. I use alot of CAD so this can be a problem.

Just wondering if anyone uses either of these to play, and if so what do you think? Good? Bad? Mediocre?
My MX500 doesn't seem sensitive enough, especially while sniping.

I have the mx1000 and love it......so far that is!

i saw this picture of a g5 with a battery carthridge (?) shaped like no battery i've ever seen... where is this for does it have it's own rechargable battary for the laser or something ??

I did not deliberately post this in the wrong forum section. I looked over the different sections and the only mention of hardware is under Support and it says for "Hardware Errors".
Since I'm not having a hardware error I posted in the general discussion section just to get some opinions.
I come here a fair amount and until now I had no idea there was even a section for general hardware discussion. Maybe you could move it so it's more visible from the main forum page, instead of having it buried under the support section. Anyway, just a thought.
Sorry for breaking the rules, but again it wasn't on purpose; I appreciate you not deleting my thread. :)

I use the G5 and love it. The dpi changeability is now a necessity for me and the laser is precise.

Yeah, in fact my mx1000 is more responsive than most of my friends mice.
