I love it when little boys get on daddies computer, and think they are top gun.. First off, I don't need proof, because I am not making a factual statement, I am making an estimation of nVidia. I have grounds to estimate what I have, based on the 512mb 7800GTX launch. You STILL cannot get them anywhere I've seen, except off eBay of course, where you can't touch a new one for under $829.. Occasionally ZipZoomFly has them for $999, where they are usually sold out before lunch time.

I hope I am wrong, but it is my estimation that nVidia won't launch the 7900 hard enough, and we will all be paying $1000+ if we want one before the end of next Spring!

I went from an X850 XT to a X1900 XTX:

      1280x1024
      medium/high settings
      4x AA, and 8x AF
      @ 40-70 fps

      to

      1280x1024
      high settings
      6x Quality adaptive AA
      16x HQ AF

      @ 60-100 fps

If you want ATI get an ATI, if you want Nvidia get Nvidia. Don't listen to these fanboy's ramblings.

cant......huh didnt know that nvidia cards cant use aa+af

they just cant use them as efficently as the x1k ATI cards

i have HDR off its just another feature to try and sell cards to us and show how we have to shell out £200 for a new graphics card

i dont want to be blinded by light everytime i step out into the open or not be able to see **** when i go into the dark

i think the x1900 is the fastest card at the moment with a resonable price tag but i dont think it has enough of a lead on the 7800gtx 512 to be the winner in a couple of months time

        anyway whats UE3?

WOw, tons of fanboyism here. I don't think that anybody should be saying 'But we all know the 7900 will kick the x1900 ass. Personally I would have waited for it.', it's not even out yet, u don't know that it's gonna kick the X1900series ass. These are all assumptions, why don't u all just WAIT for the 7900series if u wana see how good it is, instead of start making assumptions that the 7900series will be uber bad ass. Anyways, ya, the X1900series is crushing the GTX512mb now just cause u can buy it somewhere other than ebay, AND it's much cheaper (750 dollars vs. 500 dollars). If u want the best card in the market NOW, get the X1900XTX, if u wanna wait for the 7900series, go do so, nobody is stopping you. Just don't come on this forum and start stating totally irrelevant assumptions about how good the 7900series is.

I've seen various polls about SLi AA and Super AA. Does Super AA require Crossfire? The polls stated that SLi AA is apalling and that the Super AA is absolutely superior in quality and performance.

If this is so it may influence me to buy an XTX instead of Dual GTXs :p

            -Ben

Edit: A mate told me that ATI cards won't work in single GPU or Crossfire in an NForce4 mobo, is this true?

I dont think Nforce4 chipset supports crossfire (its an nvidia chipset, why would it.)

but a single GPU should work just fine.

uhu but ati cards always work better on mobo's with ati chipsets and nvidia with their chipset...

I'd be inclined to not beleive that to some extent.

There are hundreds of people over at Guru3d who run Nforce chipsets because of the better overclocking abilities, and they also run ATI cards with no problems. It seems that ATI's chipsets arent overly popular.

ok, do you own this card? i'm not asking for nvidia fanboys to tell me i'm stupid for not waiting for the 7900. i'm asking for people that own the x1900xt to give their impressions of the card. also, i bought this card for $100 under MSRP. i know i won't be able to get the 7900 for the same price that i got my x1900xt. one more thing, i've read benchmarks for days about x1900 series and it kicks ass. i didn't ask you if my decidsion to buy this card made sense to you. stop being a ****.

edit: oh and now my x1900xt is here, but my new mobo was DOA. i now have to rma the board to newegg. so much for using my new video card. damn agp slot.......

Ya, u tell him disposablehero! Anwyays, about the crossfire thing, u gotta get a mobo that uses an ATi chipset and supports crossfire. BUt they're kinda expensive, also, crossfire isn't exactly reknowned for working. Cause many people have probs with crossfire.

Could you post ScreenShots with the Adaptive AA, and HQ AF on, and then the same shot with say 4xAA, 8xAF? I am very interested to see if there is any real difference with the Adaptive AA, and HQ AF. -Thanks!

I never said they couldn't, i said they couldnt use Angle Independent AF (applying filtering to every object no matter the angle, known as High quality AF heres a good pic of what it does http://hardocp.com/image.html?image=...8xMl9sLmpwZw== ) and HDR+AA why would you buy a 600 dollar GPU to not run max eye candy.

                          Also UE3 = unreal engine 3 or UT2K7

                              Re: x1900 owners....

Uhhhhh... unless I'm completely missing something... did he just say he bought an X1900XT and tried to put it into an AGP based motherboard? That's what he said right? "Damn agp slot". Right? Kay. Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought the X850XT PE was the last videocard to make the pci-e to agp retail jump.

Now dispite my sig, I've been an ATI user until YESTERDAY. AND, I'm not here to say Nvidia is better. I actually think my problem was the ASUS A8V but unfortunately high end AGP boards are hard to find these days so I couldn't replace it and see. While I'm happy with how this 7800GT is handling, I'm a little sad that I'll never know how good my X850XT PE really was. Especially considering that I paid over $400 for it.

So I'm not a "fanboy" in the least (though, I must admit, I, for some reason, feel strangely comfortable as of yet that nvidia based equipment will run better for me for some reason. Probably based off of my own negative experiences which are most likely ASUS's fault!). And ATI is a lot cheaper (for the newer stuff). But yeah, I have to agree, it's a waste to buy the latest and bestest right now. I could have bought a 7800gtx 512mb for $800. I can buy a $1,000 dual core processor that easily clocks near the 3.0ghz range. I can afford that. But it's just stupid. Stupid, because by the time stuff like that's really starting to come in handy, you'll be able to find those same cards in the bargin bin. The only reason my agp videocard maintains a value is because agp is being phased out. It's like the Camaro. New Camaro's suck, but because they're not going to make them anymroe, even newer but not very nice Camaro's will be collectors editions.

I suggest you spend your money (general statement, not just you in particular considering you've obviously already made your purchase) on something that's 1) futureproofing (like sli or crossfire) and 2) that is just barely enough to play the most powerful game currently out. Anything more than that is a waste. I say this having basically built 3 computers for myself over the past 6 months just to play some games. I'm not complaining, it's a fun hobby and has a great payoff, but I've learned a lot from being a noob to pc building. The newer something is, the buggier it is, while also the more expensive. It's just not worth it.

Goodluck with your new combo. I hope it makes you as happy as I've been today =)

sorry if i wrote that funny. i can't use my card because my existing mobo has an AGP slot. i did purchase a PCI-E board to go with my new card, but it was DOA. i am currently RMAing the mobo. i didn't intend to put my x1900xt in my agp slot, my new mobo is just dead. i'll have to hold out for another week or 2 now and just look at my pretty new video card as it sits on my desk.
