argh dual channel ram

ok so my computer has x2 256 mb sticks of dual channel ram and i wanted more. so yesterday i went to a computer store, brought my comp down and everything because i dont want any **** ups, the guy opened it all up and checked out what type of ram i would need and got it for me. i now have 2 sticks of 512 in there, but my lame computer wouldnt start when i took it home!! i checked all the connections and everything and its all in right, so i took the new sticks of ram out and put in my old ones, and what do ya know, it started no prob. so i put the new one in again making sure it was tight and in right and all that, no start. put old one in, started fine. wtf is this about?

Does your computer Post?


You may have to reset your CMOS (BIOS) to recognize the new RAM...

Try just one stick, see if that works.

How would I reset my bios? like right at startup or w/e?

yes, reset it when it first boots up or unhook power from thower and pull the backup battery from the motherboard
