    CD-RW not reading discs

When i put BF2 into my CD-RW it will not run. Ive tried start run browse to make the cd run and nothing happens. I cleaned the disc, i cleaned the cd drive itself and nothing happens. Is it time for a new CD-RW? Its an internal 48X32X48 max speed cd-rw. Only way i can make games run is if i run it on my DVD drive.

Have you tried updating the firmware for your drive?

This often helps solve problems like you described. Check your manufacturers website for details.

Do you have any games that rely on Star Force for disk protection?

Right-click on My Computer, select Properties and the Hardware tab. Enter the device manager:

In the menu above select View and select Show Hidden Devices:

If you have Staforce, it will be listed under the Non-plug and play drivers tree:

If it is there, that could be your problem. There are supposedly issues with it ruining disk drives. Read here for more info .... http://www.glop.org/starforce/
