No, I don't mean to disable it. I mean to uninstall it completely.
I had NOD32 installed, and it caused massive frame drops in combination with PunkBuster.
Try completely uninstalling it for a test. No big deal to reinstall it if it doesn't help perfomance-wise.

im useing AVG and with running a mod i CANT get a virus, maybe its just my stupid dsl.

CPU usage while playing BF2 will probably be at around 80-90% average for most of us.

Maybe on a single core.

Even on a dual core if you have all settings turned up, and playing on full 64 player server. BF2 will suck anything out of your system that it can get
Or would you be willing to render a DVD while playing BF2 on your Dual Opteron?
And that is also why I said "for most of us" most of us are still playing with single core processors. You are probably one of the 0.5% of the BF2 community that uses a dual opteron

Ummmm no my Amd 64x2 3800+ is pushing around 60% cpu usage . Happy Ati now has duel core suport now .

Alot of people have been buying X2's and Dual core Opty's lately. I would guess it's a higher percentage than you think.

You're lucky to get a weirdly high FPS, I get a weirdly low FPS. Average of 36 on a singleplayer game Something must be wrong.

the frame rate i get all depends on the size of the map and how many players

when i am on a small map such as saraqi pinisula with less than 30 players i get around 85fps and never goes below 60

but if im on a large map like clean sweep or kubra dam with 64 players i average around 50fps but it can drop as low as 40 in firefights

thats with all settings on high 1280x1024 2aa
