EXPERTS: Will BF2 run on my computer?

hey everyone I've been thinking about buying BF2 (PC), but I want to be sure it will run good on my computer. Too many times, I have gotten pumped up about a new game to find that it runs crappy on my system. Here are my specs, tell me what you think:

    2.2 GHz Processor
    256MB DRAM
    Integrated Graphics Card (generic?)
    30GB Hard Drive
    Windows XP Home
    24X CD Drive
    Cable Internet Connection

I looked up the system requirements for the game, and I figured the only areas that would probably give me issues would be the memory and the graphics card. I was planning on upgrading to at least 512MB RAM (If i buy the game). I was also planning on buying one of these graphics cards:

1.) PNY Verto GeForce FX 5700 Ultra
    2.) eVGA GeForce 6600GT (128MB) PCIe
    3.) eVGA GeForce 6800GS PCIe

How do you think the game would run on my system, considering I upgrade these two areas of concern? Which of these graphics cards would you recommend, and should I ugprade to more than 512MB RAM (and if so, how much would that cost me)?

    Thanks a lot

I will guarantee you don't have PCIexpress slot. I wouldn't play with anything less than 1Gb of ram. You are going to need a PCI video card.

512mb is the absolute mininum for BF2, 1 gig and you are set with fast loading times and no lag in the beginning of the round.

        Thanks for the reply.

1.) Okay, so what is the difference between PCI and PCIe?

2.) I'm not interested in spending over $200 (max) on a graphics card. What would you recommend?

3.) How much would it cost to upgrade from 256RAM to 1GB?

4.) Would my processor speed be an issue?

          1. PCI is the oldest, then came AGP, and now PCI-E is the best. (I'm not gonna back it up if im wrong about history).

          2. The GeForce 6600, best cards if you are basing it on card vs price.

          3. Depends, if you have 1 256mb sticks i recommend buying 3 more identical, same brand, same speed, then you can run it in dual channel.

          4. No, 2.2 is just fine, is it P4 or AMD?

Okay, so I need a GeForce 6600 PCI? I really know nothing about graphics cards, memory, etc. Where the heck would I buy 3 sticks of memory, same brand, same speed?

I'm not sure whether its a Pentium4 or AMD... It's a Dell Inspiron 1000 Notebook, if that tells you anything.

You'll need a 256MB gfx card, 6600GT or 6800GS AGP. And you'll need at least one gigabyte of ram. So:

              6600GT 256MB AGP or
              6800GS 256MB AGP and
              756 MB extra RAM

You can't upgrade a laptop to play BF2.

Re: EXPERTS: Will BF2 run on my computer?

Laptops in general are NOT upgragable, some models you are able to add memory or replace the hard drive but thats it, you can NOT add a vid card because there are no slots to put 1 in.
Also its a DELL you'd probably have to use dynomite to get the case open.

Good news though, you can allways use it to go onto MS Game zone and play Bejewled with it.

It tells me you're highly unlikely to be able to play BF2 on that system, because your upgrade options are severely limited.

What is the problem, Wreck? I did. He asks what he needs, I give him some pointers. How about understanding my reply?

                      Cheers

Well first off we assumed he had a PCI slot because of his specs. None of the cards you are suggesting are available in PCI. Then he posts that he actually has a laptop. You have access to all this info and yet you post suggesting he get an AGP card. You are making pointless suggestions. You may as well tell him to buy a microwave to play BF2.
