If I am correct, there is an option in your ati driver where you can slightly OC your card, it's called overdrive , try this first, look how much the driver OC's your card, and watch the tems, if no problems occur, you can think of OC'ing further .

If you want to get further, get rivatuner , just loop up on google, many places to download

TIP : only OC with 10 at the time, no 10 % , but 10 Mhz , game check temp, no probs, rase 10 again, etc... once you see some artifacts in the game or instability (system freezing and stuff) , turn back 20 Mhz

ATI Tool is a good tool to overclock ATI cards. The program has the buttons "Find Max Core" and "Find Max Memory". It tests your card while slowly increasing the clock speeds of your card. When it detects an artifact, stop the test, clock it down by 10Mhz and run the "Scan for Artifacts". It can also monitor the temperature of your card if you have the temp chip in your card.

I'm not sure those are fully compatible with the X1800. I have heard the rivatuner author isn't going to continue support for ATI cards because of something ATI has done with 2D/3D clocks. I know you can get ATI tray tools to work, but I also think it has 2D/3D clock issues and you have to manually set voltages. Please, correct me if I'm wrong.

I use ATI Tool for my X800. It works great. Also allows fan control something that the ATI Drivers don't allow you to do.

Well, im guessing when you test for max clock you have to stop it yourself when it starts to artifact.

My stock clock is 475 and when it hit 534 it started to artifact and it went to 536 and the video card completley shut off, lol.

It handled more this time than it did with ATI overdrive.

I still think my card is a POS. Although If i can find the fan function im gonna set it to go wide open all the time so maybe that will help.

realy depending from card to card, I had two X800pro's some time ago, and one of them started giving artifacts almost directly (did only an extra 20Hz) , then the other one I had I could push an extra 80Hz to it, and it was exactly the same card , but I did mount a zalman cooler on it afterwards because it did get prety hot

Mostly you can push it a 50Hz and mem also 50Hz (true 50Hz, is then 100Hz), but do watch temps, maybe you do have to mount another cooler
