my computer is coming and i need to know if my bfg 7800 gt oc will run 25 watts under the "min" wattage.

my computer is coming with a 375 power supply. my card says it needs 400 watts. will this make a huge difference. what will it do if it actually dose something?

if its a terrible thing to do to my settings and or card should i sneak in there and put the 400 watt power supply in without getting introuble for messing with my leace?

DELL?!!? can i put a new power supply in a dell?!!??! ANYONE. i NEED help

1 is the wattage of a vid card gonna screw it up if it dosent work?!
2 if not what should i do.

get a new PSU. The card will work, but it will automatically downclock itself and not work as good. You should definitly get a new PSU, i recommend 450W or more. and if your plan on going SLi, 550W.

no, just because it is a dell doesnt make a difference. I dont know why they would give you a lower PSU than the video card it is coming with, unless you are putting the card in yourself.

there are plenty more just make sure it is a high price, you know it will perform good. for a 500W, about 80$ or more. 450W 60$ or higher. ask around too.

No, putting a new card in yourself isn't a problem, unless your Dell came with warranty; opening the case would void it. Be sure to buy a PSU from a well known brand and not a generic one.

errr... i got a waranty.... meh. i bought the freaking card and im GONNA make this stupid thing work.

so. this will be the plan
1 computer arives
2 open it
3 set e drive up.
4 connect to lan
5 call dell and see if i can put my new power supply in
6 if so i will put it in
7 after new supply get card in
8 done right?!

yeah what he said ^ just make sure you have a PCIexpress slot. and that you have the PSU BEFORE you boot with the gfx card. that would be best I think, unless you have to disable the old gfx etc...

Be sure to plug in the PCI-Express power connector to your video card, or you won't see much horsepower from it. You don't really need to call Dell to see if you can put in a new power supply; just make sure that the PSU you buy will fit into the case.

375 only has a chance in hell working if you have minimal components, i.e. 1 Hard Drive, 1 optical drive, and no PCI cards to power.

Even then if the 12V rail is below 24amps you'll be screwed.

Yeah, don't listen to these guys, cuz your Dell PSU is most likely different than the others. Most Dell models have specific sizes and mounting holes in their PSU's. Companies do sell Dell specific PSU's like MattDef posted.

What is the exact model?

im getting a Dimension 9150

2 gigs ram
2 3.0 processors
2 optical drives
2 hard drives. 1 c at default. i think i should put in the e drive after i got my new supply in i think
and its configured for 2 screens
