I've been following these on the Creative forums the past few days...no real reports back yet. CL support reps suggest that people do not use these drivers as they were not meant to be released in their current state.

I'm hoping this simply means they are working on new X-Fi drivers...but I'm not touching these for the time being.

CL HAS released betas in the past...but not this time.

Just installed them and played for around 2 hours.

No problems, sounds great.

I cant answer that question.

But they do sound great and I still havent had any issues. Bf2 performance is fine.

COD 2 sounds the same. No noticeable performance loss or gain.

Thanks for the post. I've been having major problems that I still haven't pinned down to a particular driver or hardware problem. I know that lots of people have been having XFI problems with BF2, and I have the same problems (crackling etc), but what seems unique in my situation is that the problem follows me outside of BF2. So, sound crackles in other games after playing BF2 even with a fresh reboot. I did a windows reinstall with the card installed this weekend and have had other problems (wont mention them because they're not important to this thread) and haven't had problems yet, but also haven't played many games yet (or even installed them all again).

If I have the sound problem again I'll try these out and post my experience. Generally, my sound degrades within 24 hours after playing BF2 on a fresh install (of the game). So you'll probably hear from me soon... though I'm hoping not.

At least this means that a patch is in the works though. Between a new Creative patch, and BF2 1.2, and ATI 6.2 in two weeks, good things may be afoot =P
