Build Me A Gaming PC.

I have a around $1100.00 is this enough to build a gaming PC? I've never built my own but, i think its something i can do. I dont need monitors,dvd drives,keyboards or speakers.
As far as what i want(remember im new to this). I Want a SLI capable motherboard(939), AMD processor, At least 1 gig memory and id like it to have room for ubgrades later.I'll be ordering through newegg.I also maybe able to put more money on it , it depends on how good of a deal it is.....thanks.

You should be able to pit together a pretty good system for $1100, shop around on newegg.com.

Which gives a total of $932 :)
If you'd like a dual core CPU, for example the AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ Manchester 1GHz FSB Socket 939 Dual Core Processor, you have to add another $80 - but then you'd be hard pressed to find a case and PSU without blowing your budget.

Notice that the motherboard is SLI-compatible, so you could add another 7800GT at a later date :)

The Abit K8n SLI is the Fatal1ty board!
The Kingston Memory is every bit as good as Crucial or Geil
The 200Gb 16mb Cache HDD's start at $150.00, in my opinion not worth the extra $90.00
By the way, if he spec'ed out this machine like you are suggesting (he said I have $1100 not $11000!) it would looke like this:
2x SLI 6800: $400
Mobo $192
RAM: $224
HDD $150
No case, No PSU. $1000+

Now is a good time to buy AMD with the price dropping yesterday. You may want to wait a couple days for the new prices to kick in at all the shops.

Once I scrounge up the money I'm building a shoebox pc, here are the specs:
Case:ASPIRE X-QPACK (Black- no window, cause the window sucks on these things)-$80

Mobo-BIOSTAR TForce6100-939 mATX (Best mATX board out there for oc'ers)-$69.00

CPU-AMD Athlon X2 3800+ (Either that or a 165, right now I'm not sure which)-$353.99

Graphics-eVGA Geforce 6800GS (or 7800gt)-$189.00

HD-Maxtor DiamondMax 10 250GB 16mb cache-$103.00

DVD Burner-LITE-ON SHW-160P6S (Best+smallest drive for the case)-$40.99

Ram-OCZ Value Series 2GB (2 x 1GB) (should oc fairly well)-$165.44

PSU-ENERMAX Liberty 500w (small, modular, and powerful)-$109.99

Add it all up and its around $1060, not too bad for the money. If anybody has suggestions (Wreck, Flanker, lil jimmy...) let me know.

Well AMD just increased prices on Optys and decreased the A64 line. The 3800+ X2 should be more like $315 now, and the 165 is sitll around $340. I'd go with the 3800+.

I love Western Digital and they seem to be benching better than all other brands. You can't beat their five year hot swap warranty either. There is a new 250Gb WD 16mb Sata II drive for around $110.

I'd also rather have the 7800 GT. Thats pretty much the backbone of a gaming system and you want the best card you can afford. If you have to skimp elsewhere then you should.

I'm not too big on Enermax although the Liberty seems to have decent reviews. I haven't had any experience with them, but there are just brands I prefer like OCZ, Fortron, Seasonic, Zippy, Sparkle, and the probably too expensive PC Power & Cooling.

There is no reason to get the 3500+. The 3700+ or the 3200+ would be better choices. Also the SB Live! cards are hardly any better than integrated, a waste of money IMO.
