    Compatible Components?

    hi, i am looking to purchase a new comp, and was planning to build it myself, but am having troubles finding if the components that i have selected are compatible with one another. any help that anyone could shed on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

    -->(2x) OCZ Performance 1024MB DDR400 PC3200 CL 3-3-3-8 (Sckt939)
    -->ASUS A8N-SLI nForce4 SLI Chipset
    -->SATA150 - Hitachi 160GB 7200RPM 8MB Cache
    -->Enermax Noisetaker EG701AX-VE(W) SFMA 24P (ALL IN ONE) SLI Supports
    600Watt Power Supply
    -->AMD Athlon 64 (ADA4400CDBOX) X2 4400+ socket 939 Dual Core 2.2Ghz
    -->CoolerMaster Liquid CPU Cooling Fan System Kit + 2 EXTRA CASE FANS
    -->(2x)XFX GEFORCE 6800GS XXX PV-T42G-UAD7 256MB DDR3 TV + DVI Extreme Gamer Ultra PCI-E

    its been a pain in the arse, cos its the first time ive ever done anything like this before and i dont know if the mobo is compatible with the x2 processor and the Hard drive with the mobo, so any help you can give is very welcome! also if there are any components that i have missed or alternative products that are better (same price range), that would also be appreciated.

      Just built my first computer myself and yes it was a little scary not knowing if all of the parts work together. From the looks of it you will have a very nice system going there. The only thing I would maybe say is try looking at least a 7800gt and Corsair pro ram. I just put my system in profile. Can run any game at full res so far.
      Good luck with the build (hopefully your mobo has good documentation for all those wires like mine did). I am sure it will.
      Have fun. Building has a great sense of accomplishment at least for me.

          yeah i was'nt sure wether to go for the single grapics card- do you think its better than the sli setup? i dont think there's that many games that can fully take advantage of the sli setup are there? and i could always save up for another one!

              No, I don't think that the single (sli ready) is better than actually using two cards in sli. Right now though I don't need it. I can run everything in full max out settings no problems with just one 7800GT.

                                  Almost all pc components (Execept Memory are totally compatible with most other products. There are rare occasions that they are not, but for the most part you should be ok. Usually the manufacturer will provide a list of RAM compatibility, Also when you are looking at CPU compatibility, visit the homepage of the manufacturer, find the Mobo, and link to the page for mobo, it will show you compatibilty with cpu's

                                      From the sounds of it, you are ordering a build your own? I would recommend purchasing the items listed seperately and installing yourself. The only downside is that you do not get a warranty. The downside of the waranty is this- You cannot do upgrade during warranty period, if you change anything(sometimes if you open the case) you void the warranty. You would save yourself hundreds by doing yourself. Also- you care a great deal about your pc, the guy putting it together doesn't care about you or your pc. If your computer crashes or hardware failure or anything, you have to send the pc to the retailer for repair, you are without your pc for weeks or months.

                                      Lil Jimmy is right about the kits. However- you will spend hundreds on a custom WC setup. If you are not interested in the massive setup and money to accomplish the project, you can start with a kit that is half the price and easy to install. This will get you a good kit and good performance, not great, but good.

                                          Trust me, don't go with a kit. Unless you don't want such a huge performance increase from air cooling. Like bucket said, you won't be getting "great" performance, your better off air cooling than using a kit. Think of buying a kit like buying a pre-built computer. I suggest you read some guides on custom watercooling:

                                              For a simple custom kit you can build one for about $150ish.

                                              As for kits, they are for the most part all crap. Their components are horribly sub-par, and better can be purchased seperatly and put together.

                                                  QFT. Prebuilts are all bad, just go build your own custom setup at dangerden.com and post it here for our opinions.
