    Performance Question: 6600gt users

ok, was wondering if anyone else out there plays BF2 using a 6600gt 128MB AGP.

for those of you who do, what are the rest of your system specs, and what settings do you play on? also how is the performance of the game for you.

i have a 2.6ghz and 1GB of ram, my bf2 runs pretty smooth. i have been playing on the following settings:

    1024x768@60hz
    Terrain Medium
    Effects Medium
    Gemoetry Medium
    Textures Medium
    Lighting Low
    Dynamic Shadow Off
    Dynamic Lighting Off
    Anti-Aliasing OFF
    Texture Filters Low
    View Distance 90%

The game defaults me at the medium settings, but I favored a higher resolution over lighting effects by lowering all lighting and shadow from medium settings to low/off, and raising my resolution up from 800x600 to 1024x768.

I currently reverted back to the default settings, to expirement and see if the performance is similar, and if the resolution really makes much of a difference.

Just wanted to know what the rest of you agp 6600gt users are running, to see if I'm on the right track. :p

    Re: Performance Question: 6600gt users

    3.2 ghz P4 w/ HT
    1.5 gigs DDR2 RAM
    6600GT OC PCI-E

I run at 1152x864 with textures max, terrain max, everything else either medium or high, I've been tweaking lately. I run 2xAA, I used to run 4xAA but some maps lag and Special Forces lagged horribly so I dropped it down. Runs beautifully, no problems, good steady framerate, entirely playable. Very rare slowdowns.

      1GB Ram
      Overclocked 6600GT (forgot what clockspeeds)

and ran all high, with textures and geometery on medium, 4XAA.

oh ya, is there some sort of console command to show the fps on screen when playing bf2? kinda like how they have cl_showfps in CS.

Open the console by pressing ~

              then

              renderer.drawfps 1

your card should have come with a overclocking program mine did but it depends on the brand
the way you find out is look in the lower right corner of your screen(next to clock) and fin the nvidia symbol then click and find nvidia display and scroll over that and it should say somethin like (dell crt or lcd whatever monitor you have) then click that and small nvidia window should pop open and to the left look for clock frequency settings click that and now you can over clock increase slowly and test the settings to make sure they work properly
                have fun

With most you have to run coolbits, or manualy change the registry to get to the clock frequency menu.

ya, mine did come with teh MSI overclocking utilitiy. wasnt sure about using it...a few times it had pulled me out of game cuz telling me it automatically lowered my settings cuz i wasnt getting enough power or something. i never installed it again after a reformate, just use the driver online.

I have the same video card and i put it on high and it auto set all the settings that card can handle. Everything is on high besides texture and lighting, those 2 are on medium.

                            online i use these
                            800x600@85hz
                            Terrain low

                            Gemoetry Medium

                            Lighting Low
                            Dynamic Shadow Off
                            Dynamic Lighting off
                            Anti-Aliasing OFF

                            50-70fps

                            i use low perposly why?
well if some noobtuber is hiding in a shadowYY area (small building coverd by a large black shadow)it looks as clear as day,
also removes alot of grass and things you shouldnt be admiring like "wow look at those gfx on that followed by outch im dead"15 secs l8r you can carry on being distracted by more gfx.

try everything on low then you get what i mean.
online gfx dont mean s*** ,its about seeing the best you can and runing the game a smoth as possible.
                            well thats my opinon......
yeh the game looks awsome on high gfx but you have a advantage when its on low you can see more.

thats one reason why i dont get a faster card cus i stil play on low im used to it now
