Ok, I've always wanted to play BF2 on HighEST settings. However I've always been able to play on default high settings. For Christmas I got AGP 128mb 6600GT card, I installed it, reinstalled BF2, and I could not play on highest settings (Before I had ATI 9500/9700 128mb AGP card). I have an AMD 64 1.8Ghz (2800+) 1GB Ram (duel 512mb). Then today I bought another 1gb DDR stick, allmost certain that putting this in would allow me to play on highest, or at least highest without AA. So now I got 128mb 6600GT card, 2800+ 64 bit AMD processor, and 2Gb of ram (the new 1gb stick I got was PC3200, I'm not sure exactly how good that is, but I assume it's at least decent) What do I need to run on highest settings?!?!. And I'm not willing to purchase another video card, would a new processor work?

Re: HighEST Settings...
Urgh, but one of my friends managed to play on highest settings smoothly with my video card, he had 2gb of ram, however his processor was a little bit better than mine. He mentioned something about overclocking his video card but I'm not sure if I want to do that - is it safe?Originally posted by lil_jimmy_nortonNo, you would need a new vid card.
If I could overclock, by how much? I don't have any special cooling - just a fan.Comment

Re: HighEST Settings...
Yes, as long as it's done correctly overclocking your vid card is safe. DOn't expect any miracles though.Comment

Re: HighEST Settings...
You can play on the highest settings at 1280*960, 2xaa. That is the max on that card. If you would have the 256 mb version, it would run higest at 1600*1200. The bottleneck is your vid mem which is only 128 mb. Steps to take:Originally posted by Sir. 1. Download killdisk and do a low-level format
2. Reinstall xp
3. Gather all your hardware information. Download the latest drivers for all except the gfx card. After downloading install them. Wait with the gfx card.
4 Browse to www.tweaksrus.com download the G-Xtreme 77.62b drivers and install.
Set everything on ultra high aznd enjoy playing. Btw, you could play at 4xaa at 1024*768.
Personally I would opt for the 1600*1200 ultra high no aa. That is the max you can reach with your current setup.

Re: HighEST Settings...
That card is certainly not one to expect to play BF2 smoothly on all high settings...even with a top-end system.
That is more of a budget card.
It's certainly a GREAT card though...you should be able to put a few settings on high.
Make sure you keep Dynamic Lighting and Dynamic Shadows on low or medium...then you be able to get a few of the other options on high for sure.Comment
