i saw it when i was reading the readme file of 92.XX nvidia drivers.( can't remember which, i was puzzled at first as i 've never heard of it, i googled it and well i actually found it...

Not really. The first number denotes the generation, the second the series.

Previous gen high end cards are better than current gen low end.

Just as the 6200 is worse than some 5X00 cards.

Right, but what do you think the average guy that goes into a store just so he can play bf2, has no knowledge of hardware, they are probably gonna go for the highest number, my friend has some jankey 6800 that puts shame to its title.
