Get the 7800gtx 512 now or wait for the 7900/x1900?

Hey, having just waiting 2-3 months for the 7800gtx 512 to come into stock, they are now in with the company I am buying them off. However i'm now worried that I should wait for the 7900gtx which will be 2-5 months (the company won't received them straight away). Another option would be to wait 1-2 months for ATI's x1900, which again they won't be getting right on release.


I'm getting sick of waiting to have the best card, when there's always a new one around the corner. What do you guys think I should do? Just go for the 7800gtx 512mb or wait for the other cards?

I'll also probably want to be able to play UT 2K7 on full/near full settings when it's released.

Its a bit silly getting a card now, wait for the X1900 to come out and try to see wehter prices drop.

I know its bad but you wont regret it :).

I decided to pass up the current generation and wait for R580 (January), and the G71 (March), to be released. I just want a card that is gonna crush BF2 at ultra high settings and high resolutions with 512mb of ram. The current generation just doesn't seem like enough of a step for me to invest.

Lol, i'm guessing that stepping from a radeon 9200 to a 7800gtx 512 is going to be a blow to my brain!

I'm sure it will. Well then waiting for the release of the R580 core will bring the card you want down in price so it would be a win/win for you to wait a couple weeks.

Awesome, who's paying for it then, and if u could, get a X1900 for free if they would also pay for that.Anyways, are u sure that the X1900 is coming out in this month?

My parents are paying for it . It's either the end of this month or the start of February i've heard. And I won't be able to get the x1900, simply because the company i'm getting the computer off isn't really an ATI fan and only stocks nVidia cards.

WHy don't u ask ur parents to buy u all the parts, and then u build it, it's cheaper (good on ur parents) and it's a good experience for u, plus, it's not very hard.
