Then I thought, is the FX64 even released yet?

The FX-60 has just been released. This is the last CPU from AMD for socket 939 - and is the first FX to have a dual core.

The FX-64 has, in other words, not been released

Not close to being released. The FX60 is the last FX processor to be released on socket 939. The FX62 is next, but it will be released on socket AM2 which isn't out yet.
