Okay, I was quickly wondering a little thing about OCing. My friend claims that if you raise the FSB, and lower the multiplyer, your CPU speed is the same but your FSB is higher. Thus making it faster. I told him "why would people speed up their CPU when they could do the FSB?" Would this actuaslly improve performance by doing this? does it make it unstable?

The only performance increase you'll see is in memory bandwith. The faster your memory runs, the more data you can transfer. It's best to have a high clock and a high HTT. You can only raise your HTT if you have memory that can handle the overclock. -

While most of what you said is true, you could easily set a memory divider and then simply raise the HTT. That would result in a faster HyperTransport Bus. If you were to raise the HTT, and lower the CPU multiplier, lower the LDT multiplier, and also set a memory divider, then you would simply have a really high HTT with no other affects at all, kind of pointless, but amusing nonetheless.Comment
