The Aegia PhysX Processer

I saw this a while back in an old issue of maximum PC, and they said it was something of a graphics card, but it was PCI. And I laughed at it.
I saw it again and they said the release would be delayed for the product because no games really took use of it yet. It is actually a physics processer for games and if I understnad correctly, it takes a huge load off the CPU or something like that.
It seems pretty cool and a good idea and when it comes out, if it is A. Cheap and B. works for games I like to play I might pick one up.

Yeah I've read about these too! It was in a local computer magazine in an article that was about high-performance PC's. It said something that these cards would take the physics off the CPU and by that increasing performance big time.

I'm definately gonna buy one if they're reasonably priced.

I allows more accurate and true to life physics to be programmed because it has a dedicated processor and RAM for nothing but physics calculations. It takes a tremendous amount of pressure off the CPU and RAM there by allowing a lot better physics in-game.

There was a quote that I saw somewhere that it would allow upto nearly 1 million ragdoll physics to appear on screen at one time.

Not to mention that there might be one in that new extreme dell system, which means game support won't be far behind.

Does anyone know what the specs of the unit are? Id love to know what the CPU speed is, how much RAM is has, etc.

The dell? It has ( I think) a p4 955 clocked at 4.26, quad nvidia 512mb gtx's, and 2 gigs of ram, someone correct me if I'm wrong. Still no amd, so I won't buy one.

Dell sucks Xtreme a$$. My friend ordered a XPS laptop, the one that has everything. It took them 3 weeks to get it to him. Once he got it, it was DOA, corrupt bios. He called Bumphuk, India to get tech support and it took him 5 hours (not kidding) to get someone to help him. He lives like 3 hours away from the place where they are repaired too. I say stay away.

my first dell was a good computer, but they overcharged me and ripped me off so bad. We asked them for a gaming computer, to mainly do a lot of gaming. so they put a 2.53ghz pentium 4 (good for its time), a nvidia mx420 (SORT of good for its time), and 256ram. for like 1300$. ugh,

I agree with you that dell sucks. What I'm saying is that dell is the largest computer manufacturers around, so if they include this thing in a computer, developers will rush to support it.

Looks like 3Dmark06 may take advantage of it as it's at the bottom in the sponsors.
