Bye bye AGP and Intel...

So I bought BF2 a few months back... Decided that I like the game and have played it alot since...

Not with out upgrading my system though...
current specs are in sig.....

Ditched the X850pro flashed to the X850XT this week, just wasn't happy with it...
installed a BFG 6800GT... lower 3DMARK05 scores but better overall performer compared to my old 850...
Doesn't lag like it used too..

SO then my friend needed a bios flash on his new AMD system....

X2 4400
EVGA 7800GT
2 gig OCZ
DFI lanparty board...

SO I help him out and flash it for him....and then test it...

Shouldn't have tested 3DMARK05....score 7890
Shouldn't have tested Aquamark...score 95,000
Shouldn't have played BF2 on it...

SICK.SICK.SICK...

SO NOW I WANT AMD AND PCI-E setup...

I DONT CARE....My "system" will be pieced out soon on ebay...

And I will be sporting new stuff VERY soon....

What do you guys think on the CPU though???

how big of a performance difference can u see between the X2 3800 and the X2 4400???
just trying to cut a buck or so...

Overclock the X2 3800+ to 4400+ speeds.

what does the L2 Cache matter? Im sure it does, but whats the dilly?

3800 L2 cache is 2x 512kb 2.0 ghz $322
4200 L2 cache is 2x 512mb 2.2 ghz $400
4400 L2 cache is 2x 1mb 2.2ghz $497

It helps in certian apps, but in games really only a 5% or less benefit. AMD seems to think it makes up for 200mhz of clock speed, but I don't agree. If you are really worried about having 1Mb x 2 L2 cache then get a 939 Opteron 165 or 170. They are 1.8Ghz, and 2.0Ghz both with 1Mb x 2 L2. They are compatible with all boards that support X2 processors.

I have future plans for H20 on my system...
But till then can get the 3800 OC'd to 2.2ghx + ???
My buddies 4400 came with fairly decent stock FHS....brass tubed design... is that standard?

I think 2.4Ghz would be fine on the stock heatsink.
