    Better performance: 2gb vs 3gb (2 x 1gb + 2 x 512mb) of memory?

I recently purchased two 1 gb sticks of Corsair XMS memory. I also have two sticks of 512mb XMS memory. Do you think I will acheive better performance with the 2 x 1gb or with 2 x 1gb + 2 x 512mb?

2x1gb or you will lose the dual channel speed gain if you use them all.
    2gb is plenty for BF2

2GB in dual channel will be faster than with those 2 extra sticks of 512MB.

Stick with the new 2gb sticks you got.

2 x 2GB + 2 x 512MB will give more RAM, so you will be able to run more things at the same time. It will also be better, overall, since more RAM is rarely a bad thing. You'll still be running in Dual Channel.

But 2 x 1GB is plenty enough also.

You'll be taking a slight performance hit will all your slots populated. Your ram will default to 2T command rate, and I can't think of anything that will use up your 2Gb of ram. I'd just sell the 2 x 512 and pocket the cash.
