ok, i have a cable running from my digital output of my audigy 2 zs to my home theatre surround sound receiver.
my receiver is basically top of the line before you get ridiculous, its like 1400 watts, marantz and tells exactly when surround is being played and when only stereo is.
however, even though the outputs and inputs are supposedly digital for full subwoofer and surround sound utilization the receiver reports only stereo being played, and an even more perplexing problem.
i choose 5.1 in the windows audio setup for my sound system, and it runs everything fine except BF2.
i play BF2 on high audio settings with EAX enabled and it runs like a charm, except that when i have my windows audio set to 5.1 the sounds from a distance are clearly either very quite or missing entirely.
ie, i shoot a grenade launcher 10 feet away and cant hear the explosion. i hit f10 for external view of a vehicle and cant hear the engine or the horn.
previously before i had the car i could hear all these things.
even more strangely, when i set my windows audio to STEREO, all of these sounds work as they should in BF2.
however, at stereo, im pretty not sure im getting the highest quality and surround from my setup.
my tech savvy friend says that there is a legend that the audigy 2 zs digital outs only support stereo.
does anyone else have the audigy 2 zs here, and could they help? id really appreciate it.
