Performance gone down the drain :(

I dled my new mobo and GFX drivers and I did 3mark. I got 5180 when previously I got around 7300. I tried in BF2 and it caps at 30FPS and in action it drops to around 20FPS.

    Help!!

        Doesn't sound noobish :p

Ok, I went into the Video Card drivers topic and saw there was a new version. 81.98. It was at guru 3D. But I wanted it from the official site so I got them from nVIDIA. I then ran the exe and installed, with the restarting etc. When I downloaded the 81.94 I did the same and they inproved my performance. I used no driver cleaning utility.

Then for my mobo, it told me there were new updates. To update from v637 to v666 and I installed it via the dl it gave me. It just dled it then installed it. Then restarted.

I then ran 3Dmark05 it gave me a score of 5180. I got worried and ran Bf2, the FPS was capped at 30FPS and in action it was 20FPS. Normally it's 60-70FPS and 40-50FPS.

My card's temps are around 50 idle and 70+ load. I first noticed the extreme temps at 81.94 but I never saw the temps at the 7X.XX series drivers.

        Thanks for replying.

Edit: As you can see in my stats, it should not be doing this.

It runs at 40-50FPS now. But, really with my stats shouldn't it be more like 60-70?

you should of used a driver cleaning utlity i think u may still have youre old drivers hiding that y u got a drop in performanc....
in future when u upgrade ur nvida drivers....do this
1.go to add/remove unistall drivers for gfx
                2.load up in safe mode
3.go in to c:/ (ur main harddrive and delete the folder called nvidia
4.restart and load up in normal mode (should be running in **** mode i.e standard vga..
5.get a driver cleaner i recomend somthing like this

then install new drivers restart and should all be working nicely

                        ^ It is whql.

Ok, I'll do that when I do my next drivers. I know I should have another 20W. But, I'm sure 500W won't last me long if I updrade later. Maybe a 550W or something. Can you reccomend any good models?

you could unistall youre gfx now and use the method i gave you and reinstall the whql and you should see a diffence..
cus u did say that u just installed them over youre old ones its a common mistake that can be fix after 3 restarts

just doing my bit for the community :)
