    Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic

Is this card worth it? I went to a CES convention today, and they are selling them for $85 total, with shipping, is it good for gaming or just music?

X-Fis are the best for gaming in my opinion, but they're good for normal stuff too like jimmy said.

I love mine....mp3's sound so much better, even with mid-level speakers / headphones.
Oh and I definately hear things in BF that I never heard before.

Re: Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic

USB headphones do not use the sound card what-so-ever and will sound exactly the same.

sound was beautiful on the demo, they had this thing that made it seem it was 7.1 speakers in the headphones

is this a big upgrade from a Audigy 2 zs?

It should be, but I don't have either so I don't know for sure.

i pondered upgrading to X-Fi, but if i'm going to do it, i want the board that has the dedicated on-board memory. unfortunately, it looks like only the $180+ card has that memory built in (and it comes with that 5 1/4" live drive bay thing).

anyone know if you can just get the card by itself? maybe the next generation of X-Fi will have that memory standard with all models. if so, i can wait.

From what I've read all X-Fi's have built in RAM, but only the high end models advertise it. The Fatal1ty has 64MB, while the XtremeMusic (which is what I have) only has 8MB; pretty sure it's 8MB anyway. I'd pull my card out and check the RAM chip on my X-Fi but I'm too lazy :p

i read both specs side by side, all it has is 64mb, all other ratings are the same

It Has It Own Proccesser so i takes off some stress form you cpu and it gave me more FPS like 10-20 more in bf2
