He didn't. He said that a lot of people were having trouble getting past 260Mhz with it. I said that there was no problem with getting past 260Mhz with it. This is the quote;

You act like I've never owned this board. Don't be offended just because it's a piece of hardware you happen to still have, and most boards don't do what yours does. I'm not saying your board isn't good, but the VIA chipset isn't know for overclocking well. It's a mid grade budget overclockers board bottom line. Keep living in your land of make believe.
Most Infineon BE-5 IC's don't reach 260mhz at any timings, but mine do. Do I go crying when someone says that those particular chips suck? No. Why? Because they do and I got lucky with a good set.
Lower your multiplier and then start raising your HTT to see how high your memory can go before it causes errors. This is your memory's max. Then set a divider to take your memory out of the equation, put the multiplier back to stock and start raising the HTT until it's unstable, raise Vcore and keep going back and forth with HTT and Vcore until either you run out Vcore or your temps get too high. That's the max your cpu will go. Next you try finding an equal medium between the 2. It's hard to tell you what settings to use because every computer is different, so you kind of have to figure it out on your own.
i greatly appreciate everyones response, and i admit its my fault that i didnt ask the question properly: what i wanted to know was how is setting it to ddr333 or 266 or whatever translate into 1:1 or whatever ratio it becomes? THATS the part im confused about, where do the numbers used in the ratio come from?
i know thats how you get it to 1:1 what i want to know is where do those numbers COME from? i know, 200 = 400ddr, but is that how you get the number or is that just coincidence?
i.e. if set to 166 that would be 2:1?
oh and i want it to be at 400, my mobo bios reads it at the ddr speed:-)
200MHz is your HTT, fsb for you Intel guys. 400DDR is used basically as a marketing ploy. DDR is memory is double data rate so 200HTT is equivilent to 400MHz. You're still only running at 200MHz, but since it's doubled, it's the same as it running at 400MHz.

1:1 - 200MHz
1:2 - 100MHz
3:4 - 150MHz
5:6 - 166MHz
7:8 - 175MHz
and so on...
If you want your memory to run at 400MHz, then you need a 2:1 divider. But I'm pretty sure you're memory won't run at 400MHz. If you want to be on the same page as people that overclock etc, don't use the doubled frequency. Use the frequency that is actually being applied.
Ah crabby, i must have the bad cookie of the batch for 3200+. With no divider, i can get to like 2.2ghz stable. With a 2:3 divider, i can get to only 2.25. This sux.
