So I went to Fry's today just to buy some rounded IDE cables (that were UV sensitive for my UV lights). And Im looking for a good pair of cables, and I see a pack of some, and the packing on it says "UV ATA133/IDE Cables" then in a cool font next to that it says "Great for Overclocking!!". And im sitting there thinking...I didnt know you could overclock your Cdrom drive. Does anyone know why they said great for overclocking? Maybe Im forgetting something I dunno.

I'm not saying it helps because i'm not a expert but maybe they ment better airflow/cooling in the case?

I know exactly, and it cost like 2$ more than the one I got, which was basically the same thing. I mean, its possible data transfer can be faster possibly (it says that on the back of MY package 'reliable data transfer'), but overclocking? lmao

All cabling has a max bandwith. It has to do with composition , what the wire is made of,size, and its length. No matter what the wire is made of there is an upper limit. All the higher frequencies, needed for multiplexing, will travel on the outside surface of the wire. To get an even higher bandwith you will have to go wireless and let the signal ride on a carrier frequency ie. am and fm radio, wireless lan, cell phone, etc. . . . . . .signals in the fiber optic cable are carried by a light frequency and actually move in a spiral. . . . . . . . (after several hours and a small nap). . . . Thats why its probably just a marketing ploy. . . . Red
