Don't expect much out of it. You're buying yesteryears' technology for future games and that's not a good mix.

That is the exact same card I have, and it is awesome at that price. You will get atleast a year and a half out of it with no complaints IMO. "Future Proof" , nothing is!

yeah really, i remember last year a kinda comp nerdy guy i know was buying a comp and put 1024 ram and a 9800 pro as basically state of the art.

this tech changes so fast there is no point in buying for "2 years in the future" anyway.

the environment just changes too rapidly. ill grant you that a 7800 GTX is gonna run any game for 2 years fine, but whats the point in paying 400 bucks if all you want is to play BF2?

id say get a 6600 GT though, you can get just as good a deal, but they can have way way higher frames per second.

its a good card, bf2 at medium. But, unless your positive bf2 is the only game your gonna want to be playing I wouldnt get it.

Try to get the GT model, if that's all you can afford. That seems like the 6600 vanilla

GT ? Whats the difference between the plain 6600 and the 6600 GT? I couldnt tell there was any so bought the 6600 (256mb) and saved about 50 bucks (at the time). Once I over clocked it (I didnt bother trying it without oc) I havent had any complaints it works great. . . .Red

the difference between the GT and the vanilla, is higher clock speeds and less/better memory. The clock on the plain, is like 300/500 I think, and the GT is 500/1000. Now of course you overclocked it, which WILL help, and you have 256mb of memory, instead of the 128 on the GT. But the GT uses GDDR3 memory, which has better performance and is better for OCing, compared to the ddr, that the plain uses. It really depends. GT is for FPS gamers, and the plain is for more like MMORPG type I guess. Your overclock will help somewhat, but still...
