Intel gaining ground in Single core?

could this be what makes intel P4 be at teh same level as AMD?

Perhaps. The performance level is still slightly behind AMD even with the patch, but the price difference is still what's putting the hurt on Intel. Why spend more on an Intel CPU that only performs at the level of a much cheaper one?

Well even on the dual core it does much better than AMD, and they are alot cheaper, but i know what you mean with the P4 wise. Is all the same, like everything else, there is a time for everyone to be number one and a time to be number 2.

Gaining ground in single core? That's like PS coming out with games for the PS1. Single core is dying and it's dying quick. Why do you think AMD has basically given up on trying to get anymore out of their single core chips? Because there's nothing else to get that wouldn't cost a fortune.

Some people will still have single core cpu for at least 2 to 3 years, i know i will, and if they come out with new technology to make them better, nothing wrong with that. I see you got dual core so go ahead and brag i guess you can =)

they test single core against dual core and this only in games, and only two games, this test sucks, realy it does .

Also they test the master piece of single core intel but not the master piece of single core AMD

My point is buying single core is a waste of money when you can buy dual core and get more performance for the same/less money. To make any improvements in single core chips, it's going to cost the user a lot of money. Why spend $1K on a single core chip and get good performance in gaming instead of spending $500 on a dual core chip that will exceed the single core in just about every task? All the money on research is going into multi-core cpus. Within the year, you will find more and more apps and games taking advantage of this so your half as expensive dual core chip will blow the single core chip away. Granted, the top of the line single core chips are a little faster than the dual core so if it's a gotta-have-it-right-at-this-moment deal then go buy it.

I understand that, but some people already bought there systems before dual core was out, so it is a benefit for us since might not upgrade soon, P.S. dual core only has a small market compare to single core right now, and i will for at least maybe 6 months to another year i think.

It doesn't matter if you have single core now. Dual core doesn't take any special components to work. As long as it's the right socket, it will work. You'll most likely need to update the BIOS, but you can still use a dual core chip. It's not like your stuck with a single core chip because that's what you have now.
