Do you think crossfire will catch on?

I'm kind of sceptical whether crosfire will catch on or not. SLI has been out longer and had more time to mature. Nvidia already has established themselves as an excellent MOBO chipset maker, while ATI is relativly new to the game, and is more or less untested. So what are everyone elses thoughts?

not quite sure but i picked no, since SLI has been out so long and what not i'm thinking SLI will still dominate, since just about every serious gamer would go with SLI, or has.

Yes, it should catch on. It's already caught on with me (see various threads where I mention my latest planned setup) and I hope it does with everyone else. nVidia may be faster, but ATI has the graphic quality on their side, which I put above an extra 10 or even 20 fps. There's something to be said for the raw speed, but sometimes having cleaner graphics helps too.

But look at it from a MOBO chipset standpoint. NV is already known as the best overclocking MOBO chipset, while early versions of the ATI chipset are having alot of issues (from what I've been reading) just running at stock speed with simple configurations.

NV had it's fair share of troubles right off the bat as well. I for one am willing to give ATI a fair chance in this dash for dual GPUs. Unfortunatly, I doubt many others will see it that way.

Then why do you think it will catch on?

Well, it will catch on, but not quickly. It's initial market will be very small because NV already has it's foot in the door (heck, it's got both feet, both legs, both arms, it's head, and half it's torso in the door) but people like me who give a chance will tell others about the new option, and it will spread. Slowly, but very surely.

It will, but SLI will always be king i think, since the technology has had time to marture, and it will only get better.
