Alright,

My bros rig has:

AMD XP 2600+ Barton core socket A 333FSB
Albatron VT600 northbridge socket a mobo
1 x 1 gig Cosair Value ram, 1 x 512 pqi value ram
AIW x800xl AGP (not overclocked); ATI Cataylist 5.13 drivers
1 x 40 gig hd ide; 1 x 80 gig WD sata 150
Generic PSU 400 Watts, P4 Approved, 15A on the 12V rail; 200 watts on both 5v and 3.3v rails

All mobo drivers, bioses are up to date.

Basically, after playing for an hour BF2 just crashes to desktop. The problem fixes if we reboot. Could this be a heat problem???????

And my bros rig scores 4800 in 3d mark 05, is this slow ??

Sounds like it. Or possibly the PSU is overheating or being strained too much.

the 12v rail reads 11.92v when playing bf2. BTW the psu calculator here says I need a psu with a Minimum of 300 watts, I have 400 watts.

CPU gets to 59 C sometimes.

Maybe I should buy some 80 mm case fans.

60C is too hot, this is a heat issue.

I have an XP 3000 Barton core overclocked and after logging a 3 hours BF2 session the maximum recorded temperature was 47C (this is air cooling)

60c is too hot for an AMD Athlon cpu. I used to have a similar problem before I upgraded my heatsink to a Vantec Aeroflow. Now they have the Aeroflow 2 out pretty cheap, so you might want to check that out.

My CPU is a 3200+ XP and it never goes above 42c with that 'sink, even when I've got it OCed to the max and under full load.

Ok I added some case fans now the CPU temps are 47-49 C idle, 52 C load. Still CTDs, BTW GPU temps are 40-50 c idle, 65 c load

I used to have an 5200fx and it never CTDed
