    Two sound cards and VOIP

I've searched the forums and haven't quite found an answer for this problem.

I have onboard sound AC'97 (there are new drivers out from 12/1/05 BTW) and recently upgraded to the Creative X-Fi Xtreme music card.

I disabled the onboard sound, hoping to only use the Xtreme card for both gaming, TS and so on. Unfortunately, this card has only one Digital Input/Output jack...so if I want to use my digital speakers I have to unplug the mic and vice versa.

Basically, I want everything using the X-Fi card except the microphone. I re-enabled onboard, set the Voice input to the onboard sound and tested the mic and speakers...and everything works great (in Windows Control Panel). Even finicky TS works, once I set the input device correctly.

But I get nothing with VOIP in BF2. Dead mic.

Is it possible to have the ingame VOIP detect a second sound device? I know a lot of people use USB headsets, so I know it is possible on some level. Do I need to reinstall BF2 in order to have the onboard sound redetected?
