Will This Graphics card compatable with my Dell? Help

Tomorrow is the big day and Santa is bringing me a brand new shiny GeForce 6800 GS for my old Dell Demension 4800 I think that it should be compatable as i have an AGP slot but im not entirerley sure? Can somone help please .The rest of my specs are 512 mb RAM and 3.06 GHz.

if your dell has an agp slot, then yep!!!!


BUT

u need atleast 1 gig of ram man.

i donno, with 512, maby low/medium, or not even play at all.

u need 1 gig for medium/high

2 gigs for high =]

512mb works for medium-low in BF2 vanilla, low in SF.

More Ram eh. Recommend a certain type. sould i get an extra 1GB stick or two 512's ??

1GB is enough for all high other than textures on meduim

yea man more RAM for sure with that card. Go with either Corsair RAM or Gigaram RAM. You can get both brands for dirt cheap from Newegg.com and thier shipping is kickass!

I've never seen a motherboard dictate the amount of video memory your add-on video card can have...what are you talking about?

It's either AGP or PCI-e. Back in the old days it mattered if the mobo had an older AGP slot that was too slow to handle a newer cards AGP 8x or PRO for example, when the mobo could only accept 2x or 4x.

This is not the case for this guys system.

umm make sure the 6800gs your getting is AGP, and not PCI express... i guess this post is kinda late
